6 days
Om denne aktiviteten
Your 6-day coach tour of northern Thailand includes 4-star hotel accommodation. Beginning in Bangkok and ending in Chiang Mai, you’ll tour ancient cities, jungle-clad countryside, hilltop villages, and plenty of craft markets – including one at the Burmese border!

Day 1 (L, D)Early morning departure from Bangkok, with hotel or Airport pickup. Drive north to Bang Pa-In, a royal summer palace with lovely gardens. Upon arrival, your guide will discuss the combination of Thai and European architecture. Admire the elegant Thai pavilion, which stands in the middle of a lake. Visit Ayutthaya, where ruins of temples and palaces still remain. Walk around and learn about the canal and river network that helped Ayutthaya to flourish. Then, drive through the Thai countryside to Lopburi, see a 13th-century Buddhist temple now inhabited by hundreds of monkeys! Later, visit the town of Phitsanulok, and see numerous houseboats.

Day 2 (B, L, D)Visit Sukhothai, admire numerous standing Buddha statues as you explore the ruined temples. Then, head to nearby Si Satchanalai, where you’ll have lunch. Later, drive through rural Thailand toward Chiang Rai. En route, stop in Phayao, a small 11th-century town.

Day 3 (B, L, D)Visit several hill tribe villages. Enjoy mountain views, stopping in the Chinese settlement of Doi Mae Salong. Reach the Akha and Yao tribes, where villagers continue to wear traditional garments, learn about the customs of village life. Later, see Mae Sai, Thailand’s northernmost town near the Myanmar border. Drive to the heart of the Golden Triangle where the Ruak and Mekong Rivers meet. Enjoy views of Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and the mighty rivers below. Afterward, visit Chiang Saen, where evidence of the original 13th-century city can still be seen.

Day 4 (B, L, D)Depart for Chiang Mai with your guide, stopping first in Mae Ka Chan, famous for its hot spring.

After lunch at a local restaurant, drive through more mountain scenery and tropical jungle to visit the hilltop temple of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. Climb 290 steps (or ride the cable car) up the hill for outstanding views of Chiang Mai. In the evening, enjoy a kantoke – a ceremonial dinner where traditional northern Thai dishes are served as you watch dancers perform a series of folk stories..

Day 5 (B, L, D)Visit an elephant camp where skilled mahouts (trainers) demonstrate how elephants have worked in the jungles for centuries. Watch in amazement as the elephants reveal their intelligence and strength. After lunch at a local restaurant, see the district of Sankampaeng, where Chiang Mai’s cottage industries flourish. Watch artisans create beautiful crafts.

Day 6 (B)Your tour ends in Chiang Mai. If you have a flight to catch, your guide will drop you off at the Chiang Mai International Airport.

Absolutely amazing, more than we hoped for. Our Guide Vanda was so helpful that nothing was too much trouble for her. Her English was excellent and she showed us so much in the 5 days we were traveling. We learnt so much about the Thai way of life, as well as their History this could never have been achieved any other way. Only disappointment was the Teak Garden Hotel and Spa is Chiang Rai and I would encourage the organizers to try and find alternative accommodation. If it wasn't for this hotel I would have definitely given it 5 stars. Anyone thinking of going should ask for a different hotel to the Teak garden and ask for Vanda as your guide she made us feel like celebrities making sure everything was just right Anyone thinking of going

My guide was perfect! The itinerary was comprehensive and well balanced. The hotels were very nice, and the food was very good. I will definitely recommend this tour to anyone who asks!

Only my wife and I on tour. Guide very helpful, sometimes too attentive. Sights helped us get a much better appreciation of Thailand than we had formed just in Bangkok. Food seemed monotonous, certainly not up to Bangkok standard. First nights accommodation needs refurbishing.

We were picked up on time by our guide Shannon. We were the only ones on this tour and so we had a chauffeur driven car together with our guide. The car was extremely comfortable and our guide spoke very good English and was excellent. As we was now on a private tour we spent longer at some places than if on a group tour you would have been able to. The places we saw and having the guide tell us all about them was absolutely brilliant. We even slotted in some extra places that the guide thought we should see. The hotel accommodation was very good, although we have found not only on this trip but when you have buffet type food in the restaurants of the hotels, the food lets the hotel down. Perfectly acceptable but not as good as it should be. The evening at Khum Khantoke was very enjoyable and the food was good there. We saw and done so much on this tour and found it fascinating, very enjoyable a great way to see Thailand away from Bangkok.
