When you arrive at Cairo airport, your personal representative will help you through customs and visa formalities, assist you with your luggage, and escort you to your private, air-conditioned vehicle to meet your Egyptologist guide.

Drive to the Giza Plateau to admire the pyramids: the Great Pyramid built by Khufu, the lesser pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, and the smaller pyramids dedicated to the queens. (It's possible to enter the Great Pyramid for an additional charge.) Stroll up to a viewpoint to capture your best shots of this iconic panorama and begin your 25-minute camel ride.

Next, it's back down the plateau. Your guide will explain the significance of the Valley Temple, probably used to mummify the body of Khafre, and the enduring mystery of the Sphinx. Finally, savor a delicious lunch at a local restaurant with views over the pyramids before you return to Cairo airport for your onward flight. Please note the Giza Plateau area closes at 4:30pm.

This trip was good but not great. The good things: got to leave the airport; driver was great at getting us to the sites alive (traffic is nuts); and the guide was friendly. The not-so-good things: it was Ramadan and the guide told us we wouldn't be able to go to the pyramids; we got an extended camel ride to compensate but didn't ride the camels even close to the pyramids; and guide took us to a lot of small businesses that were trying to see us stuff--unexpected from the details of the trip.
