Your up-close feline encounter begins when you enter the Lion Habitat Ranch near Las Vegas, the 8.5-acre (3.4-hectare) home to cats that previously worked at the MGM Lion Habitat. Since the early 1990s, the sanctuary has been the residence of more than 40 lions and their adorable cubs. The ranch staff provides care to the big cats for the rest of their natural lives, and donates a portion of proceeds to wild lion habitats. Stroll along the paved paths for unobstructed views of the giant cats lounging, playing and napping in their habitats. You also have the option of choosing one of the following upgrades to enhance your experience.

Behind the Scenes Small-Group Tour

If you would like to observe the hunters from a different vantage point, choose a Behind the Scenes tour. Limited to ten people, professional trainers answer any burning questions about raising and taming lions during an interactive Q&A. After you’ve learned about the inner workings of the sanctuary, explore the grounds on a guided tour. Watch as kings of the jungle and their cubs feed, train and bathe.

What a hidden gem. We used to be sure to stop by the MGM hotel to see the lions there, but they closed that exhibit down in 2012. What struck me about this place was the cleanliness and palpable love for these animals that the trainers had. You can just tell when someone speaks animal, and these people do. The most important thing to the wonderful people here is the health and happiness of their animals. Highest recommendation! Also, the behind the scenes tour has a lot less people trying to get the attention of the lions - after our tour, there were large groups of kids laughing at the lions, who were grumbling back at them - found the kids annoying and wondering where the parents were - only to sadly realize, they were right next to them doing the same thing. Too bad you can't pass a test before you're allowed to be with these majestic beasts. Do yourself a favor and visit this place - but please be respectful of the big kitties!

My family and I enjoyed our visit to the lion habitat. It has more than just lions there, you can see birds, ostriches, and giraffes. My daughter had the opportunity to feed the giraffe while petting him. That was her highlight of the day. It was awesome to when they feed the lions because all of them start to roar, and it can be heard throughout the entire facility. If you a family traveling in Las Vegas, this is a must see.

It was fun,we got there on Benny the Lion's third birthday and we were able to catch his birthday party and watch him get his piñata, I.also got to hand feed a giraffe and we were able to watch them feed the lions and the Cubs

Amazing!! Staff very knowledgeable about the animals in their care. Cute baby giraffe that paints a must see. I highly recommend this tour to everyone! Price may seem a bit high but when you see what it takes to care for these beautiful animals on a daily basis, the donation is well worth the price!
