Our guide Hugo was terrific. Very knowledgeable about the city and showed us a lot in a short amount of time. Took us to a local place for lunch which was fun. When you do the port visit, ask about upgrading the tasting. We'd have liked to try the higher end ports at Calem.
Our driver and tour leader was very knowledgeable and courteous. Porto is beautiful, our lunch however left a lot to be desired.
With a short visit to Lisbon, my husband and I decided to squeeze in a day visit to Porto. We are so glad we did this because it was the highlight of our trip! The locals thought we were crazy because it takes about 3 hours to get there but it's so worth it if you are not able to go there longer. Our guide picked us up at our hotel and drove us there. He provided great History along the way. Upon our arrival, he had set up a Port Wine tasting and cellar tour. This was great and very educational. We stopped by a few more places to taste some unique ports. Then from there we headed to lunch for a traditional Portuguese meal. After that, we went into the city and got walk around and see the sites. We ended our day with another Port tasting, then drove back to Lisbon. It was a great day in a city I know we will return too.
Worth seeing and was absolutely beautiful. Pass on Port wine tasting and take a boat ride ( promised but not provided). Not well planned and implemented . Amazing views.... long day.
It was a beautiful sunny day. We LOVED that our guide took lots of photos of my husband and I. The visit to the wine cellar was fun. Did you know that only wines produced from this region can be called Port, and that there is white Port that is not exported? The lunch at an authentic Portuguese restaurant that is frequented by Portuguese, not tourists, was a treat. The food was good. Besides wine, we were served a beverage that tasted like Tang, as well as bottled water. We thought that was interesting. We visited an old church where we climbed all the way to the top of the steeple and looked out. It was quite a long climb on skinny stone stairs, then you are rewarded with an amazing view of the city and beyond. I think you can see all the way to the ocean, but I'm not sure. We loved our guide.
