Leave central Madrid and head into the surrounding countryside, passing through the sleepy villages and meadows that typify the area. As you travel by air-conditioned minibus, your guide will talk to you about wines made in the area surrounding Madrid.
About 19 miles (30km) away from the capital’s center, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the Madrid's main winemaking area, known as Vinos de Madrid – a Spanish Denominación de origen (DO) territory. All wines produced here adhere to strict production guidelines so they have are able to proudly display the DO Madrid labels on their bottles – an indication of the region's high-quality wine.
The area boasts a real mix of traditional and contemporary wineries, all dotted around an area extending from the central mountain range to the Tagus River Valley. Visit three of the region’s best estates to sample quality red and white wines. Roughly halfway through your tour, your guide will give you several options for lunch (own expense).
Visit three of the region’s contemporary and centennial wineries, tasting the wine with the winemakers amid medieval towns, old vineyards and gorgeous picturesque views.

It was a great experience to drive outside of Madrid and visit these wineries. The owners and staff were amazing and treated us like family. By the way, we visited 2 Ecological (in USA means Organic) wineries. A must!
The tour guide was in a rush and refused to turn on the air condition. He consistently ran over speed bumps at high speeds without regard for the passengers not sitting in the front. The minivan had no air condition or any windows so we were stuck in 45 degree Celsius weather without any comfort. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. I’ve been on more than 4 wine tours in Madrid and this was so much worst than all the others. I was so happy when it was over and we were out his van.
If you like wine and enjoy a bit of history and information about the wine industry in the area, this is the tour for you. The guide was great and had a great depth of knowledge about grapes, wine making, and the wineries in the area. You also get a bit of history of the wine making in the area. If you are like me, you will purchase a few bottles to take home.
Excellent day!! Enrique was a superb guide! Highly recommend!! We visited 3 wineries and they all had so much to offer in the history of wine maki g in Spain. Enrique also most most informative and knowledgeable of the history of the area as well as his knowledge of wine making.
I would highly recommend this tour. We spent the day about an hour south of Madrid visiting three beautiful wineries. We tasted great wine and had great tapas style food with each tasting.Enrique our guide was very knowledgable about Spanish wines and Madrid and Spanish history. A great way to learn about Spanish wines.
What an awesome experience and what an awesome tour guide we had in KeeKay (sp?). If you like wine, enjoy experiencing and understanding the background, history, and makings of the wine, the foods and the culture of the area, you will LOVE this tour. KeeKay is a winemaker by training, and by choice - we've been on numerous wine tours and winery tours and he still brought us a knowledge and flavor that we'd never experienced before. To him, 'creating wine is like raising children ... you try your best and you face continually changing circumstances and sometimes magic happens and sometimes you learn what you could've done better.' Through this tour we met the people behind the wines, we learned the history of the wines of Spain and especially the Madrid terroir, we broke bread together and we enjoyed great wines together - a LOT of wines. And then we bought a LOT of wines. Two suggestions. First, for travelers. Budget your wine purchases. After 6 glasses they all get better and you'll want to buy more and more wine. Second, for the tour. Consider adding a shipping option / solving the shipping problem for us. Oh how we would've loved to have been able to bring back even more wine for friends and family. But, as it was, my arms grew 2
The wineries were amazing as was meeting the owners and hearing directly from them! Our guide very knowledgeable, great fun and added a lot of history and context to what we were seeing. The tastings were generous as were the tapas at the wineries. Lunch was fantastic! So nice to have a locally prepared meal outside the city of Madrid and see what it is like outside the city.
Very informative tour,. Great spanish hospitality. In general great day out.
The experience was more amazing because it was matched with an awesome tour guide ENRIQUE who knew the history, was knowledgeable, very friendly and trustworthy. I mention trustworthy because after our tour ended Enrique dropped our family off at the hotel and we did not realize that we inadvertently left a couple our purchased items in his van. Shortly after Enrique was kind enough to return to our hotel to drop off the items, A CLASS ACT . We loved the experience and would do it again. Thanks for an awesome tour Enrique!
Loved the small family vineyards, excellent wines. Made new friends
