A very good introduction to the site, with a comprehensive tour of the cathedral with a local guide. Very busy, I can see it being difficult at peak times. In our case everything ran to time and we were back on the dot. A couple of hours free time to lunch and/or shop. Some confusion about voucher. My booking message said .mobile vouchers were accepted, the local company's FAQs said not. I didn't take the chance and printed one.
Although Cordoba is a great place to visit as a tourist, the tour operator Julia Travels does a horrible job. They just basically arrange for the bus to take you to Cordoba where a completely different tour operator gives you the tour, so there is always a bit of confusion during the hand off. Our bus and our tour in the Mosque was in four languages. As you can imagine we wasted a lot of time waiting for the guide to speak in four languages. Why can't they just divide the tours by language? Our bus tour guide, Paco, just went through the motions. My recommendation: Definitely go to Cordoba, but with a different tour company.
On a positive note, the mosque was an amazing architectural masterpiece, and I'm happy I was able to see it. Viator contracted with a company called Julia Tours. We were packed into a full coach with Spanish, German, Italian, and French speakers. The little information we got on the way to Cordoba had to be repeated in all 5 languages, so there was not much. After an absurdly long bathroom/coffee break at a rest area, we drove to the city. Although there were probably only 10 English speakers on our bus, Julia tours combined us with several other busses so we had at least 40 people in our group with one tour guide. We did have earphones. Because there were so many other busses in town, the tours went through the mosque one right after the other in a maze-like coordinated pattern. It was nearly impossible to follow our guide through the crowd, which was as thick as a rock concert. Several people in our group started to panic and had to leave the building. We were led through the city after the mosque visit, which was also somewhat stressful because of our way-too-large group. I would recommend Cordoba, but not with this tour! ..
If you are pressed for time and want to see the Mosque Cathedral of Cordoba in an organised guided tour from Málaga, this might be for you. Our guide in Cordoba (different from the Coach trip guide) was excellent and very engaging. But we needed more free time in Cordoba.
This trip was overall fantastic! Everything was fun and enjoyable. We definitely appreciate that they were able to pick us up from the resort and drop us off instead of us taking a taxi to the city. The only suggestion is more time needed to shop and enjoy the outskirts of the cathedral.
The guide walked so fast as soon as we got off the bus that everyone got confused and seemed lost for a while. It was unfair on people who were not as fit as him or who had walking sticks.
