Pass By: Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Piazza del Duomo, 20123 Milan Italy

Meet your guide in mid-afternoon outside the Piazza del Duomo. After entering the huge church, your licensed English-speaking tour guide will lead you downstairs to visit the hidden unexpected archaeological evidence of a building which was there before the Duomo was built, i.e. parts of an older church, an octagonal baptistery and tombs. Then, after coming up in the Cathedral, your guide will teach you something special about Milan's most renowned curiosities from the sundial trail to the ritual of the Holy Nail, to the story of the Apostle who was skinned alive and much more. After being inside the Duomo, you will reach the Terraces of the Cathedral by elevator. Please note that there is no skip-the-line available for the elevator rides. After just fifty steps you will arrive to a breathtaking panoramic view over the city and you will feel like you literally have Milan at your feet.

During this tour you will have time to take memorable pictures of the spires, to the new shining skyscrapers, to the iconic medieval towers and have a closer look at the incredible sculptures populating the Duomo and representing mysterious animals, monsters and other peculiar subjects. You'll take the elevator downstairs, and the tour will continue outside, by flanking the Duomo, then by visiting the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a magnificent and luxury 19th century shopping mall. Our tour guide was very good but we had a hard time understanding her at times (I am sorry I cannot remember her name).The Milan Duomo is a must see! This Cathedral is over 500 years old and they are still adding to it. The detail on the statues atop the spires is amazing. The stained glass is beautiful. The underground could be skipped. Disappointed that tis was really not a small group tour-there were over 20 in our group.

This was a great way to see the Duomo highlights, spaces I wouldn't have paid attention to otherwise and of course the Roof top. Skipping the line was a MAJOR plus to this tour. Paulo was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable, very kind and he added some humor which always makes for a great tour. Would definitely recommend this. I never felt rushed on taking pictures like on some tours.

How much more intimate can you get to know a church when your inside, and on top of it?! Make no mistake, it will take EFFORT to get to the very top and those with mobility problems might want to think before booking this tour. But the reward is breathtaking! To see the details of the Flying buttresses, the statues precariously perched on the steeples, the panoramic view of Milan, to sit at the very top and look and walk at the very bottom of the church was just amazing. The inside of the Duomo was just as awe inspiring as well. It's only way to experience this gem of Milan.
