Spend your time in port in Ocho Rios admiring the beautiful countryside and coast on horseback.

Follow your guide and learn about the culture of the Taino Indians before Columbus landed and the island was colonized under the Spanish flag. Ride through a natural wetland, shaded by almond and coconut trees, and see the excavations carried out by archaeologists, keen to uncover the history of this area.

Then it’s time to head to the beach for the real fun. Sample some local produce in a shady beach hut before stripping down to your bathing suit and riding through the Caribbean waves on horseback. It’s an experience you’ll never forget – splashing through the water on a beautiful horse. For your safety, the saddles are left on the horses, so you don't have to worry about falling off.

Your return ride takes you along the deserted beach, where herons and other waterbirds fish in the shallow waters. You'll travel through the mangroves, which hide the remains of an eighteenth century warehouse and by an ancient waterwheel which powered the old sugar mill on this former sugar plantation.

No experience is required – the ride is suitable for all skill levels. You’ll be returned to the cruise ship port in time to catch your ship and head out to your next port of call.

There is no age limit on this tour, however, all children must be able to handle their own horse which will be led my an experienced guide. Children are NOT permitted to ride on the same horse as their parents. All passengers must be at least 3 ft tall to participate.
Please note: the Seville Great House will be closed from April 28th until September 1, 2011. You will spend extra time on the beach during the renovation period.

Picked up and dropped off at the pier no extra cost. The staff at Hooves were great. Yes they have current helmets and the horses nice and healthy. Lots of history while walking on the trails. Derrick was very informative. The best part was riding in the water and walking along the beach. Thanks for a great time.

We had a good time riding through the jungle and then riding my horse in the ocean, that was a different experience. The refreshments provided on the beach wasn't great and selling of souveniers on the beach were not a great deal compared to the same items in town. Our guide was very informative and friendly. The employees on the beach took our pictures with our camera and also had pics on a cd that were available for $10. Overall I would recommend this horse ride and if you plan and schedule it yourself you save money over what the cruise line charged.

The horse riding was nice and relaxing, horses were well trained. John Wayne was a delightful guide. Ride is mostly in shaded areas and goes to small private beach. Book your excursion on line and have smaller groups, we had four total people on our excursion. Horses are healthy and well taken care of, tour was nice.
