The Villa Borghese, the splendid small palace that hosts the Borghese Gallery, was built at the beginning of the 17th century as a private residence of the Borghese family. Currently, the collection consists of sculptures, bas-reliefs, ancient mosaics, 16th-17th century paintings, and sculptures. We had a private guide, Andrea, who was wonderful, pleasant and very informative. We had come to Rome because of the special Bernini exhibit and his expertise and kindness made the experience exactly as we had wished..
