• Kutaisi city - one of the most beautiful and ancient Georgian cities, the land of Argonauts, situated in West Georgia on the banks of the picturesque Rioni River. ( Without stops)
• Motsameta Monastery. It is located 6km out of Kutaisi, off the Gelati road. Take the turning marked by a photo of the church and follow this track for a couple of kilometres. This little monastery has a spectacular setting on a cliff-top promontory above a bend of the Tskhaltsitela River. Situated dizzily high above the ravine of the Tskhaltsitela River, the monastery offers awe-inspiring views of the river and the surrounding countryside from any number of buildings and points on the grounds. Extremely isolated and seldom visited by tourists.
• Gelati Monastery. This perfectly restored outstanding monument of Georgian architecture was the centre of spiritual and scientific life of the Middle Ages, the tomb of Georgian rulers, the cult place for pilgrims. It is located 1 km from the city of Kutaisi and is under UNESCO protection as an object of cultural and historical legacy. In fact Gelati is a rich historical architectural complex comprising the ancient monastery, the bell tower, the church and the academy set up in 1106 by the great ruler of Georgia David the Builder. Thus, Gelati was not only the spiritual centre of the country but also the largest centre of culture, history and science. David the Builder, who wanted to create a large educational centre in his country, gathered the best Georgian scientists in the academy. In Gelati there was a big and rich library, the teachers and scientists in the academy were the most educated people of the time.
• Prometheus cave is the biggest cave in Georgia. Although only one tenth is open for tourists. These caves belong to Imereti Protected Areas, and are quite close – you can easily visit both in one day. Driving through dense forests of West Georgian mountains, you’ll suddenly run into a tourist center of Prometheus cave. There is a worldwide known legend of Prometheus, who stole fire from the gods, for which he was punished and chained to Khvamli Mountain, which can be seen from Prometheus Cave, one of the most adventurous places in Georgia. We may not believe in legends, but we definitely believe in a beauty of Prometheus cave. Here you can find a very special form of stalactites, stalagmites, petrified stone waterfalls and hanging curtains, underground River and lakes – all this on a nice 1.4km walk in mysterious and cool atmosphere and short boat trip if interested.

Transportation. The vehicle used was an 8-seater, with two of these seats designed for children (middle seats). There were four clients, the driver, the guide and an intern trainee in the vehicle. My wife and I spent 8 hours swapping seats to share the burden of having to use one of the children seats. At no time did the driver or the guide inquired about our well-being or comfort. After my wife mentioned that the seats were very uncomfortable for an adult, there were no reactions from the guide. One of the seatbelts receptacles kept falling through a hole in the seat to the floor of the vehicle every time the belt was unbuckled; forcing me to squeeze my hand through the opening and reach under the seat to the floor every time we got back into the vehicle to use the seatbelt.- Organization. The tour had two linguistic groups, Russian and English. The Russian couple was seated on the back seat and we were seated on the middle seat. Thus, the few times the guide bothered to provide explanations, he had to speak to us in English and shout over our head to the Russian couple who was sitting behind us. Not a pleasant experience for neither. The level of knowledge of the guide was basic and did not add much value other than what we could gleaned from Wikipedia. Upon stopping for lunch, the guide did not provide any leadership. It was essentially sit wherever you want and order whatever you want with little assistance with dealing with the restaurant staff. It was the trainee intern who came to assist us in translating the menu. Upon arrival at the Prometheus Caves, he rushed us through the counter so we could buy our ticket for an English-language tour. It was not. It was a tri-linguistic group of 60 persons including a class of 20 screaming children led by a soft-spoken guide. Not her fault, but a group of this size should have never been allowed. End state was we lost most of the explanations. - Programme. The tour we paid for should have included a stop at the Sataplia caves. When the guide said we were returning to Tbilisi, we told him we had booked for these caves as well. He said they did not do that. We did not argue because we were fed up with him and knew we had three hours of sitting in children seats to get back to our hotel. We spent five days in Georgia and did three excursions. This excursion was well below average compared to the other two in terms of solicitude on the part of the accompanying staff

This tour was amazing !!! Best value for money. However the Sataplia cave was skipped during my tour which was a bummer. I was expecting to see the dinosaur footprints.

The tour was amazing! The guide kept us all entertained there and back, singing and dancing! The caves were ace. It was nice to have a meal with the rest of the group, on some tours you are left for an hour or so at lunchtime. Highly recommended!
