Venice Sunset Cruise by Typical Venetian Boat

Om denne aktiviteten
Choose the departure time that best suits your schedule, and then make your own way to the Ospedale vaporetto (water bus) stop in central Venice.

Meet your local skipper-guide and board your beautiful Venetian boat, either a sampierotta which is use for 4 or less people (fishing boat) or a bragozzo (two-masted trawler), for groups of more than 5 people. Calmly drift away from the UNESCO-listed city and out onto the shimmering waters of the Venetian Lagoon to begin your panoramic boat ride around Venice and its picturesque islands.

Cruise across the lagoon’s still waters, gliding smoothly through St Mark's Basin toward the nearby island of Sant'Andrea. Be rewarded with stunning views of St Mark's Basilica as you pass through the basin, and admire Forte di Sant’Andrea, a statuesque, 16th-century fortress, when you reach Sant'Andrea. Then, take in the rural landscape of Vignole.

Continue along Venice Lido, a 6.8 mile-long (11 km) sandbar that is nestled between the Venetian Lagoon and the Adriatic Sea, toward the remote islands of San Lazzaro degli Armeni, San Servolo, San Clemente, Le Grazie, Giudecca, and San Giorgio Maggiore.

Sit back and relax as your skipper-guide pauses the boat in an idyllic spot between Giudecca and San Giorgio. Hear the pop of corks as your boat bobs lazily on the water. With half a bottle of Prosecco per person, sip on a glass of sparkling, Italian wine (or a soft drink, if you prefer) and savor the taste as you watch the sun begin to slip behind the horizon.

With your camera in hand, marvel at the brilliant reds, oranges and pinks that spill out across the sky, casting a warm glow over the lagoon and the nearby Salute Church and St Mark’s Square.

After the sun has set, savor the last of your Prosecco and hear tales about Venice’s rich history from your driver-guide as you return to the city by way of St Elena and the Arsenale.

Your tour then concludes back at the original departure point.

Good but not super great. I guess it's not what we were expecting. The boat is motorized with uncomfortable narrow bench seating considering its a two hour ride. The tour travels the outer waters of Venice only, and we didn't each receive our own half bottle of Prosecco as advertised. Seven of us shared one bottle of Prosecco drank out of scratched clean?? plastic champagne glasses our captain pulled from his well-used backpack. Our captain was very accommodating and loved sharing his knowledge of his home city, this was the best highlight of the tour. For the price we paid for this tour, I wish we had hired an expensive gondola instead.

This trip exceeded our expectations. Gian showed us corners of the Venetian Lagoon that we would never have seen. He gave us the rich history of the Serene Republic with true passion for the history. All of this while sipping Prosecco as the sun sank behind St Marks! Truly a Memorable trip.

A great way to see the islands. There were only the 3 of us in the group so a very small tour. Tommaso our guide and captain was brilliant and had so many suggestions for our visit, absolutely great! The timing seemed early at 4.30 but the lighting was beautiful and the whole experience so relaxing

in his traditional flat bottomed Venetian boat it has a motor but can also sail. The boat is about 40 years old but the design is over 300 years old. The lagoon is calm, the horizon a little hazy. I forgot that this was a tour of the lagoon and its other islands so we do not head down a canal into Venice. Instead, we head along the shore as Giamba guide talks about the ecosystem and how Venice developed in this lagoon which is only a few feet deep. It provided a natural fortress against the invading barbarians. Horses, the preferred transportation of the Huns, would simply get stuck in the mud. The two hour boat ride was great. We motor through some natural areas, we watch a huge sailing regatta returning to the harbor with spinnakers aloft, past the island of Lido where the money is today and back in towards Venice where we get the waterside view of St. Marks and the Doges Palace. We polish off a bottle of prosecco as Giamba tells us how much he loves Brusa Springsteen. A musician, he learned to play drums from Max Weinberg while sitting in his mothers arm chair. My wife complains about Donald Trump. Giamba tells us that Berlusconi was just as bad and lasted 17 years. We called this hope. The sun is setting as we return to our start, down a serene canal and past the Arsenal a huge shipyard and thank Giamba for his hospitality.

Incredible! A unique way to see Venice and some of the surrounding islands. Tomasso is a genuine Venetian and has a wealth of information that is hugely better than any regular tour or guidebook. He is a wonderful friendly guy who takes pride in his work and Venice itself. The Prosecco flows during the cruise and it really is a very special experience. We went to celebrate our silver wedding and it was a wonderful way to do it. Thanks Tomasso!
